Biography

Rich Creighton is an AV rated trial attorney. His current practice is concentrated in general civil litigation, with particular emphasis on complex commercial, antitrust and tort litigation, including class actions. Over the past 25 years, he has served as lead plaintiffs class counsel in several class action cases, including antitrust price-fixing, fraud and consumer rights actions, and as defense counsel in antitrust litigation against Visa, MasterCard, and a number of banks.

In the business law arena, he has successfully represented a wide variety of clients in business tort, contract, fraud, and intellectual property (copyright and patent) cases. In the area of computer software, Rich served as general counsel to Rippe & Kingston Systems, Inc., which developed and markets law firm management software throughout the United States. Rich is also recognized for his experience in counseling clients and serving as trial counsel in matters involving libel, invasion of privacy and related First Amendment disputes. A licensed instrument rated private pilot, he has successfully represented numerous clients in aviation related matters, including aviation crash cases and administrative proceedings before the Federal Aviation Administration. Prior to joining Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable John W. Peck, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Defense of Fifth Third Bank in In re Payment Card Interchange Fee and Merchant Discount Antitrust Litigation

Montgomery Air Crash Litigation where, as co-lead counsel for plaintiffs, a verdict of $1.6 million was obtained on behalf of the victims of an airplane crash

Dun & Bradstreet Credit Services Customer Litigation where, as one of several lead counsel, a settlement of $19 million was obtained on behalf of over 1,000 business customers

Thrope v. Ohio where, as lead counsel, a settlement of over $6.0 million was obtained on behalf of a class of over 500,000 Ohio citizens for violations of the ADA

KDI v. Weinstein, a securities fraud case which arose in the context of a hostile takeover attempt

Connaughton v. Harte-Hanks – defense of a newspaper and its employees in a libel case

New Steel Drums Antitrust Litigation and Steel Pails Antitrust Litigation (Cincinnati) in which settlements totaling $14.0 million were achieved

Residential Door Antitrust Litigation (Philadelphia) – settlements totaling in excess of $15.0 million

Graphite Electrodes Antitrust Litigation (Philadelphia) – settlements totaling in excess of $134.0 million

Flat Glass Antitrust Litigation (Pittsburgh) – settlements totaling in excess of $120 million
