Keating Muething & Klekamp Welcomes Zachary K. Peterson
The Cincinnati law firm of Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL (KMK Law®) welcomes attorney, Zachary K. Peterson, Of Counsel, with the firm’s Business Representation and Transactions Group.
Zachary Peterson focuses his current practice on representing companies on a wide range of corporate matters, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestures, as well as business formation, organization, and other commercial transactions. Peterson also regularly counsels clients on various business matters, negotiation of key contracts, and overall business strategies. He also brings significant general and government-defense litigation experience.
Prior to joining KMK, Peterson was the General Legal Counsel and Chief Financial Officer of a mid-sized company in Cincinnati, Ohio where he advised fellow senior management with respect to corporate transactions, real estate and zoning law, litigation, environmental matters, regulatory compliance, employment, trucking, OSHA, MSHA, workers’ compensation, unemployment benefits, government, and more. As CFO, he also directly oversaw the company’s accounting and back-office functions including preparation of financial statements, taxes, employee benefits, commercial insurance and risk management, accounts payable and receivable, banking, job costing, marketing, and safety, in addition to managing the company’s 50+ tenancies.
Having served as in-house counsel, Peterson understands what clients demand from their outside counsel partners, and views all legal matters through a business lens and in the larger business context.
Peterson was also the founding senior associate of a small firm in Covington, Kentucky where he gained diverse legal experience in both civil and criminal law, with particular focus on complex, commercial litigation, and sensitive, white-collar criminal government defense on both the trial court and appellate levels.
Peterson earned his Juris Doctor from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University, summa cum laude, in 2012, and is licensed to practice in Ohio; U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio; Kentucky; U.S. District Court, Western District of Kentucky; U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky; U.S. Supreme Court ; and U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit. Peterson is also a Law Professor at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law where he teaches legal writing.
