Biography
Eddie is an attorney in the Business Representation & Transactions Group where his experience spans all areas of corporate law. With a primary focus on corporate governance, business formation and structuring, commercial contracts, and strategic joint ventures, reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, Eddie provides comprehensive counsel to clients of all sizes – from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Eddie’s approach to client service goes beyond being a legal advisor; he leverages his business and accounting background to be a full service business advisor to his clients, ranging from crafting innovative business ideas and solutions to providing tailored legal counsel that aligns with his client’s strategic goals.
Eddie also counsels individuals, corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and 501(c)(3) organizations through the complex world of strategic tax planning. He has successfully represented many clients in tax controversy matters before the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities, resulting in significant favorable outcomes. He has an extensive understanding of Ohio’s audit process related to state taxation matters, enabling him to efficiently navigate his clients through potentially complex proceedings.
Eddie plays a key role in the firm’s Family Office Service area, offering guidance on forming and structuring family offices in a tax-efficient manner. His experience allows him to strategically draft corporate governance documents tailored to meet the unique needs of each family. Additionally, Eddie’s ability to connect with the younger generations of family members positions him to effectively bridge generational gaps and foster long-term continuity. He has also presented on family office-related topics at the Cincinnati Bar Association, adding to his thought leadership in this area.
Outside of the office, Eddie has a passion for nonprofit work. He serves on the Board of Directors for a local nonprofit and volunteers for several others. He devotes a significant amount of time to volunteering with the Volunteer Lawyers Project of Cincinnati and the Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio. Additionally, he serves as an advisor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law's Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, where he offers guidance to small businesses on matters ranging from formation to strategic planning.
Eddie is the Vice Chair of the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Taxation Law Group and Business and Corporate Law Group.
Eddie is a Cincinnati native and earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, magna cum laude, and his B.A. in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business, summa cum laude. He was the Executive Editor of the University of Cincinnati Law Review.
