Biography

Eric Cook serves as Of Counsel in the firm’s Business Representation & Transactions Group and is a key member of the firm’s Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Team.  Eric is a business-minded attorney that provides strategic and practical guidance at the intersection of health, data privacy, and technology, ensuring his clients receive the best possible advice. 

He assists businesses in many industries navigate various data privacy and security regulations and enforcement with a particular focus on health and wellness, life sciences, healthcare, and advertising concerning risks from federal and state privacy and security laws, including ethics and AI.   

His practice includes supporting businesses in navigating the complex regulations surrounding the utilization of health data.  He advises businesses on compliance with the Health Insurance and Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Breach Notification Rule (HBNR) and Section 5 of the FTC Act, state-specific health privacy laws (e.g. Washington’s My Health My Data Act (MHMDA)), comprehensive state privacy laws, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, as well as guidance surrounding the use of tracking technologies such as pixels, Chatbots, and session-replay.      

With extensive experience in drafting and negotiating business associate, data protection, technology, and supply chain agreements, Eric is a trusted professional in the field.
