Biography
Michael Goldman counsels businesses and investors on a broad range of general corporate transactions, with a particular focus on the sports and entertainment industry, complex commercial contracts involving unique economic structures, exclusivity, and backend rights, and commercial transactions involving technology, software, data privacy, and intellectual property licensing.
Michael is the co-chair of the firm’s Sports & Entertainment Service Team and regularly advises professional sports teams, venues, sports facilities, and other businesses operating in the sports and entertainment industries. His experience in the sports industry includes representing a professional sports team in sponsorship and naming rights transactions, venue license agreements, player relations matters and transactions, and league governance issues. Additionally, he has represented a premier sports business in connection with long-term license and collaboration agreements with the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, numerous professional sports teams, and multiple high-profile athletes.
Michael regularly serves as an advisor to trustees of settlement trusts on a broad range of technology, data privacy, and data security matters. His experience includes ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing strategies to safeguard sensitive information.
Michael is also a member of the firm’s Cybersecurity & Privacy Team and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
Michael earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2020, summa cum laude. While in law school, Michael served as FC Cincinnati’s Manager of Player Compliance and Finance where he advised the club on salary cap strategy, player contracts, transfer contracts, roster finances, and the MLS Roster Rules and Regulations.
