Overview
Commercial construction and development projects always involve multiple entities, contracts and negotiations—and each one, if problems arise, can slow down a project—resulting in cost overruns and delays in the thousands, if not millions, of dollars. Because of those risks, clients working on commercial developments regularly turn to KMK’s attorneys. We have a client-first mentality, an entrepreneurial focus and a commitment to accomplishing our clients’ objectives. When we partner with you on your project, our goal is to get to “yes” at each level of the project—so you can reach the finish line within your timeline and within your budget.
Our construction and development lawyers develop solutions to fit our clients' ever-changing needs, including:
- Serve as advisors for residential, commercial and industrial developments
- Negotiate and implement contracts and legal protections
- Work closely with other teams within our firm including Project Financing, Business Planning, Land Use, and Environmental to ensure that the developer’s needs are served
- Negotiate land acquisition and sale agreements, construction contracts, project development agreements and subdivisions with local governments
- Represent developers as borrowers in connection with project financing
- Work on the conversion of green fields to commercial retail developments, and on redevelopment projects within urban areas for housing or new industrial development
- Assist clients nationwide who are involved in retail and industrial projects as developers and as end users
